The current COVID pandemic has realized the role of pharma professionals involved in research and development of vaccines, seeking cure and management of the deadly disease which has killed more than 4 million human lives worldwide.
There is a Pharma buzz in the air and the world has witnessed the contribution Indian Pharmaceutical Industry which has the current worth of US$40 billion. India is world’s third largest provider of generic medicines and its share in the world market is expanding to more than 200 countries and territories in 2021.
India has successfully supplied 663.69 lakh units of made in India COVID-19 vaccine not only to the developing countries but also developed ones like UK, Canada and even UN Health workers.
This has been done in the spirit of “VasudhaivaKutumbakam” which was although laid by Mahatma Gandhi but followed by our Hon’ble Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi.
All this could be made possible by consistent efforts of the Pharma Industry and incentives for R&D provided by the Government of India for product development and high-value production. The professionals working in this industry comes from pharmacy educational institutes which started almost 89 years back.
Professor M.L. Schroff initiated the beginning of pharmaceutical education in India at the Banaras Hindu University in the year and since then Pharmacy has achieved the status of dignified and humble profession serving to the mankind.
