The Pharmaceutical Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) is seeking nominations from the members of pharmaceutical firms for the election of Committee of Administration (CoA) of the Council.
As per the notification released by the council, the elections for the seats of 15 member COA for the council will be held on December 3 and 4 this year. As part of this, the authorities of Pharmexcil are inviting nominations from the members of pharma companies under various categories base on their size and minimum average of cumulative export value of turnovers during the past 3 years.
Under the small scale industries (SSI), the Council has invited 4 nominations, however there is no mention of export value for these candidates. Under the non-SSI category, the council has invited a total of 3 seats. Among them the council has called for nominations to 1 seat from firms having an average turnover between Rs. 100-500 crore, one seat from companies having turnover between Rs. 500-1,000 crore and one seat from the members of a company is having an average turnover of export value above Rs. 1,000 crore.
The Council has called for 4 seats under status holder category, while one seat under the Merchant Exporters category. Similarly, nominations for one seat from R&D/clinical research organizations/ and biotechnology organizations has also been invited from the members.

The Council has also called for nominations for one seat from members of Herbal/Ayurveda/Unani firms while one seat is given to member companies involved in the export of excipients, nutraceuticals, surgical, medical devises, diagnostic, pharma packaging and other pharmaceutical firms.
“As per COA meeting of the Council held on September 27 this year, we have decided to go for elections of 15 members CoA, whose tenure will last for two years from 2020 to 2022. The last date for receiving nominations is November 24; scrutiny of nominations will be done on 25th of November, while withdrawals of nomination are on November 27.
Therefore, all those members who are interested should forward their nomination papers personally by hand to the council, or through registered post or by courier. Members must strictly follow the format while filing their nominations,” informed Udaya Bhaskar, Director General of Pharmexcil.
