Police have seized about 500 bottles of Codeine syrup and 1.30 lakh tablets of tramadol etc. from three places, being used by the supplier as godowns.

Those arrested include dealer Ritesh Sharma and two aides Nitin Gaur and Mohammad Khalid, who had reached one of these godowns to unload the drugs during the presence of the police.

According the police, besides these medicines, many prohibited drugs had been stocked at these godowns, which could not be sold without prescription.

A team of the drug control department also rushed to the spot and began investigation in the matter.

According to the officials, these medicines had been brought from Ghaziabad.

“There was no record available with the chemist about these medicines. He was not having any license to deal with the medicines either”, said an official.

The investigation revealed that chemist Sharma already had three godowns to stock these medicines and had recently hired one more place as there was an increase in demand for the drugs.
