Corona virus pandemic has resulted in a tragically large number of human lives being lost. The magnitude and speed of collapse in the activity that has followed is unlike anything experienced in our lifetimes. The COVID-19 pandemic is now no longer only a global health crisis but it is also a major economic crisis that is having a huge impact on people.

Covid-19

Most of the organizations do not have a post lockdown strategy.  Organizations need to gear up after lockdown ends to supersede the impact of the novel COVID-19 virus. Starting from Lockdown-1, since Lockdown-1 to Lockdown-5 from 25th March onwards, India has been in lockdown till date. Organizations need to think about the future, not just medium or long term, but also the next few weeks and months.

We need an exit strategy or post-shutdown plan that protects our wellbeing even as it bolsters our economy. COVID-19 has completely changed the way organizations work and operate. More and more organizations are using digital platforms to operate and conduct activities. All these new and upcoming changes have made the work contemplate, how to do work without physically seeing or meeting each other.

The COVID-19 pandemic is quickly changing how every organization is turning to work virtually, making remote work the new normal. Post lockdown remote working policies will no longer be a perk but fully embedded within the organizational culture. There will be a need to quickly redesign and scale the organization’s IT infrastructure and operations to support this new way of working while ensuring the health and safety of workforce, and continuity of activities.

Returning organizations to operational health after a severe shutdown is extremely challenging. Most organizations will need to reactivate their entire model. Organizations will have to be innovative in their thinking without compromising on safety of their work force. Social distancing at workplace and in travel to and from the workplace and during interactions comes next.

We are heading towards Unlock-1 w.e.f. 01-06-2020, follow the guidance from Central Government, State Government & WHO. Create Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure preventive measures are executed in a systematic way and ensure safe practices are implemented. Wellbeing of each and every personnel shall be on top priority having an action plan in the event of persons feeling unwell in the workplace is extremely important.
