Ahmedabad: The Gujarat chapter of Indian Medical Association (IMA) on Tuesday welcomed the move of including small and medium hospitals, nursing homes and clinics officially in the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector. The sector was also provided serial and code number.

Dr Chandresh Jardosh, president of IMA Gujarat, said that it was a long-pending demand by the medical fraternity. “With the move, the hospitals will be able to get credit facilities through financial institutions at lower rate of interest, easy availability of finance, collateral free loans, lower electricity bill, stamp duty and property tax among other benefits,” he said.

“It will be more beneficial for the smaller set-ups than the bigger hospitals. We are going to launch a campaign to create awareness among our members for registration.”

The members added that in the shadow of Covid-19 epidemic that has witnessed drastic footfalls in majority of hospitals, it’s a welcome move and will help healthcareindustry to get back on feet.
