In an effort to revitalize pharmaceutical exporters in Tamil Nadu after the prolonged C-19 shock, the Pharmaceuticals Export Promotion Council of India (Pharmexcil) is organizing a one-day seminar on the subject “Reinvigorating India’s Pharma Exports’,” focusing on the latest pharmaceutical export policies and regulations.

Although the seminar is intended for the member-exporters of Pharmexcil, this time all the existing and new entrants in the export business will be allowed to attend the seminar without any registration fee.

Two people from one member-company can attend the seminar without paying a fee, but mandatory registration of participation by members is required.

The programme is scheduled for December 23 at Hotel Savera in Chennai. This is the first seminar organized in the physical presence of participants in Chennai by a pharma body after two years of the C-19 pandemic, said S V Veeramani, vice-chairman of Pharmexcil.

He said pharmaceutical exports in India are gradually rebounding after the business slowdown in the initial C-19 period. Pharmexcil is committed to reinvigorating the export sector and, as part of it, the Chennai branch office of the council decided to conduct the one day seminar for the member-exporters.

The vice-chairman said the seminar is focused on highlighting the recent amendments in trade, taxation, and regulations for the benefit of small and medium scale enterprises (SMEs).

The major areas of discussion include Foreign Trade Policy (new) & Incentives for the Pharma Industry, Customs Procedures, Tax Regime for Pharmaceuticals, ECGC Schemes, recent advancements in Indian regulations and regulatory support to the manufacturers, Market Access Initiative Scheme, and Export Opportunities for SMEs.

Pharmexcil will involve the Tamil Nadu IDMA for their active participation in the programme and has requested the pharma entrepreneurs from across the state to attend the seminar.

Pharmexcil hopes that the topics selected by the speakers in each technical session will provide adequate information with the latest updates on export policies and regulations to the participants.
