Belgium, the global pharma and life sciences hub in Europe, has invited Indian pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies to invest in Belgium and utilise the huge investment opportunities offered by the country.

While taking part in a recent seminar, Karel De Gucht, former Belgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs who delivered a presentation on the topic of ‘Overseas trading and doing business with Europe after Brexit’ said that Belgium is at a strategic geographical point in Europe which gives it a natural advantage of becoming a global destination that provides the pharma and life sciences investors easy access to the other European countries for developing their business and expand their markets across Europe.

“Belgium is regarded as a global pharma and life sciences hub in Europe. Indian investors in pharma and life sciences can use Belgium as a global logistic hub and global R&D hub and can expand their markets in Europe. We welcome the potential investors of Indian pharma and biotechnology sectors to invest in Belgium and utilise the huge opportunities offered by our country,” informed Karel De Gucht.

To attract the attention of Indian investors, the authorities of Consulate of Belgium in Chennai organised the seminar in Hyderabad and show cased the advantages of using Belgium as a Global logistic hub.

As part of the initiative to attract the Indian pharma players to invest in Belgium, the authorities from Consulate of Belgium at Chennai have partnered with Pharmexcil, Bulk Drug Manufacturers Association (BDMA), Federation of Asian Biotech Association and Confederation of Indian Industries. “The representatives of Belgium are seeking Indian firms to invest in their country and utilise the vast opportunities offered by that country. This is really a welcome opportunity for the Indian firms as they can utilise this to expand their network into other European countries by making Belgium as their base,” opined Udaya Bhaskar, Director General of Pharmexcil.

The DG further felt that this is a great opportunity for the Indian firms to utilise streamline their operations in Europe either by setting up an R&D Centre, distribution centre in Belgium or by partnering with local players.
