GSPC launches ‘Renewal on Your Doorstep’ programme for Pharmacists
For ease of renewing registration of pharmacists, the Gujarat State Pharmacy Council (GSPC) has introduced ‘Renewal on Your Doorstep’, a 75-day Renewal & Registration Guidance Camp, which started on January 5 and will continue up to March 31.
The programme will help elderly pharmacists and those who belong to interior places in the 32 districts of the state, according to Montukumar Patel, president of the GSPC.

In the camps, apart from council registrar and other officials, president and the members will attend and provide all guidance and counseling to the pharmacists for renewal and fresh registration.
The council will collect a fee of Rs.125 from each pharmacist for renewing their certificate. A registration is valid for five years period.
According to the president, the period of renewal of registrations in Gujarat starts from January to March.

Every year, about ten thousand renewals are to be done, but many of the pharmacists, especially people in old age, show reluctance to renew their registrations because of travelling from far off places to Bharuch council office or do it by online.
Some other pharmacists, though they are interested to renew the registrations, they do not have enough time to reach the office in Bharuch.
So the state council has decided to go to their home towns or villages to help them renew the registrations, said Montu.
“We will cover all areas in the state which has 32 districts. For the convenience of the programme, 32 districts have been brought under 14 zones.
In each zone we have selected one pharmacy college as the camp site where the pharmacists can come and renew their certificates. Similarly, fresh candidates can avail the facilities for registration also.

Programme details
We are launching the programme on the 5th of this Month and it will continue upto March 31,” he told Pharmabiz.
The first programme has commenced on January 5 at APMC College of Pharmaceutical Education and Research at Sabarkantha district (02772 – 229674) and the second camp will be held at Smt.
BNB Swaminarayan Pharmacy College in Vapi on January 11 (9824567909).
On January 12, the third camp in the series will be conducted at Maliba Pharmacy College in Surat (02625- 255882).
The fourth camp is slated for January 18 at Gujarat State Pharmacy Council in Bharuch (9909912480).
Next camp will be held at Sarvajanik Pharmacy College in Mehsana district on January 19 (02762- 247711).
On January 25, Veerayatan pharmacy college in Mandvi-Kuch will host the programme (02834 275245).
Tolani Institute of Pharmacy in Kachchh will hold the camp on January 26 (9825227209). The eighth camp is slated for February 1 at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda in Vadodara.

Shri BM Shah College of Pharmacy in Sabarkantha will be the venue for the ninth camp on February 2 (02774 249587) and ITM school of pharmacy in Vadodara will host the programme on February 2 (02668 275508).
As per the schedule, the 11th camp is scheduled on February 22 at Meera Medical Agency in Jamnagar (9427776345).
On March 8 the next camp will be held at the office of the Chemist Association in Rajkot and the 13th programme is at Sigma Institute of Pharmcy in Vadodara on March 15 (9099063161).
The last camp, the 14th one, will be held at Anand Pharmacy College in Anand district on March 22 (02692 250020), according to a circular issued to Pharmabiz by GSPC.
