ROHTAK: More than 3,000 new cases of cancer are registered at the PGIMS Rohtak here every year.
Figures of the last five years indicate that the number of cancer patients coming to the institute was on the rise.
In 2019, there were a total 3,737 cases of cancer registered at the hospital, of which 2,328 were men and 1,392 were women.
There were eight boys and nine girl patients as well.
The institute is the only place for cancer treatment for patients diagnosed with the disease in the 22 districts of Haryana.

The district hospitals do not have any special ward dedicated for cancer patients.
Advanced districts like Gurugram have some private hospitals, but poor patients can’t afford treatment there and have to be dependent on government hospitals.
The number of cancer patients in 2018 was almost the same at 3,732, of which 2,106 were men and 1,293 were women.
The number of child patients was higher that year at 33. In 2017, the total cancer patients registered at the PGIMS Rohtak was 3,635, of which 2,313 were males and 1288 females.
