Chennai: The south zonal office of the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO) has got a new deputy drugs controller (DDC India) with additional charge.

Dr S Manivannan, who is currently holding the post of deputy director at the Central government medical store depot in Chennai, took over the additional charge of the zonal office where the post has been lying vacant following the promotional transfer of Santhi Gunasekharan to Delhi as joint director at the DCGI office.

Previously, from the year 2014 to 2017, Dr Manivannan had held the same post in the CDSCO office in Chennai. But because of pressure from Delhi, he was assigned with the charge of the medical depot.

Meanwhile, as part of strengthening the state drugs control department, the state government has created one more post of joint director.

Until now there was only one post of the JD. Two deputy directors of the DCA, PV VIjayalekshmi and MN Sreedharan have been promoted to the JD posts.

Last week the government appointed PU Karthikeyan as a deputy drugs controller at the headquarters office.
