Gujarat FDCA issues huge number of Product Permissions

The Gujarat Food & Drug Control Administration (FDCA) has issued record number of product licences with 5494 in September as against 5421 licences in August post the Covid-19 outbreak, according to the data.

The data said that about 48,909 product permissions have been issued by the Gujarat FDCA this year.

Gujarat FDCA also issued 532 new licences for the manufacturing of allopathy drugs during 2020-21 as against 454 new licences in 2019-20 and 365 new licences in 2018-19.

The new product permissions granted for the month of June and July  were 5324 and 5488, while in the month of February and March, the product permissions issued were 5095 and 5123 respectively, according to Gujarat FDCA data.

“Gujarat remains as capital of pharmacy of the world, not only in term of quantity but in quality too. It has already earned the brand Gujarat in Pharma manufacturing and rising in the number of product license application is its testimony,” stated Gujarat FDCA Commissioner Dr H G Koshia.

Gujarat FDCA issued fresh licenses to 814 companies between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021 as against 583 licences in 2019-20 and 515 new licences in 2018-19.

In 2018-19 and 2019-20, the fresh licenses were issued by Gujarat FDCA to 82 ayurvedic companies and 60 ayurvedic companies.

In 2018-2019 and 2019-20, the fresh licenses were issued to 68 cosmetics companies and 69 cosmetics companies respectively.

Earlier, Gujarat FDCA also issued 3,364 test licenses between April 1, 2020 and March 31, 2021.
