New Delhi: The Health Ministry today said there was no provision in the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956, the National Medical Commission Act, 2019, or the related regulations to accommodate or transfer medical students from any foreign medical institutes to Indian medical colleges.
So, Ukraine returnees have not been permitted to be absorbed locally.
“Since there is no such provision, no permission has been given by the National Medical Commission (NMC) to transfer or accommodate any foreign medical students in any Indian medical institute or university,” Minister of State for Health Bharati Pawar said in the Lok Sabha today.
Nearly 18,000 MBBS students in Ukraine returned after the war broke out earlier this year.
