India Pharma and India Medical Device 2023 Conference

The Department of Pharmaceuticals, in collaboration with the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), is all set to organize the highly anticipated 8th edition of the international conference, ‘India Pharma and India Medical Device 2023.’

The event, scheduled to take place from May 26 to 27 in New Delhi, will be inaugurated by the esteemed Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers, Mansukh Mandaviya.

Joining him will be Bhagwanth Khuba, Minister of State for the Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, who will also participate in the conference.

Launch of National Medical Devices Policy and Export Promotion Council

During the conference, Minister Mandaviya will unveil the National Medical Devices Policy, 2023, as well as the Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices.

Emphasizing the significant role played by the Indian Pharmaceutical Sector, which is often referred to as the “Pharmacy of the World,” Minister Mandaviya expressed confidence that the sector would make substantial contributions to meet both domestic and global healthcare needs in the forthcoming years, according to an official press release.

Recognition of the Medical Devices Sector

Recognizing the immense potential for growth in the Medical Devices Sector, also known as the Sunrise Sector, the Union Cabinet recently approved the National Medical Devices Policy, 2023.

This policy was formulated after extensive consultations with industries and other stakeholders. It is projected that the sector could reach a value of 50 billion USD by 2030.

Launch of the ‘Assistance for Medical Devices Clusters for Common Facilities (AMD-CF)’ Scheme

Minister Mandaviya will also launch a pioneering scheme called the ‘Assistance for Medical Devices Clusters for Common Facilities (AMD-CF).’

This initiative aims to bolster or establish common infrastructure facilities within medical devices clusters, as well as strengthen or establish testing facilities for medical devices.

Dedicated Days and Key Activities

The conference will span two days, with the first day, May 26, 2023, focused on the India Medical Device sector under the theme “Sustainable MedTech 5.0: Scaling and Innovating Indian MedTech.”

“The second day, May 27, 2023, will be dedicated to the Pharmaceutical sector, revolving around the theme “Indian Pharma Industry: Delivering Value through Innovation.”

The conference will feature a range of key activities, including:

Inaugural Session (May 26, 2023): The conference will commence with an inaugural session where the National Medical Device Policy, 2023, the Scheme for Assistance to Medical Devices Clusters for Common Facilities (AMD-CF), and the Export Promotion Council for the Medical Devices will be officially launched. Additionally, study reports on Pharmaceutical and Medical Devices will be released during this session.

CEO’s Roundtable and Thematic Conference Sessions on the Medical Device Sector (May 26, 2023): Several thematic sessions will be conducted, offering insights from more than 100 CEOs of pharmaceutical and medical device industries worldwide.

CEO’s Roundtable and Thematic Conference Sessions on the Pharmaceutical Sector (May 27, 2023): Similar to the previous day, various sessions will be held, featuring discussions among CEOs and industry experts.

Global Participation and Topics of Discussion

The conference is expected to draw participation from over 700 professionals representing the pharmaceutical and medical devices sectors.
