NEW DELHI: A key Central Asian state and some European nations, whose envoys visited vaccine manufacturing facilities in Hyderabad on Wednesday, are keen on partnering with India on purchasing C-19 vaccines as well as in undertaking joint research to produce vaccines.

Kazakhstan, Central Asia’s biggest state and India’s largest trade partner in the region, is open to the idea of both purchasing vaccines from India as well as entering into joint collaboration, ambassador Yerlan Alimbayev, who was part of the team, told ET.

“In the current international situation, India is becoming a ‘world pharmacy’. I had a chance to see myself that India is perfectly capable to carry on this responsible mission. It is very encouraging and hopes are arising for an early introduction of vaccines against C-19 virus,” he said.

Alimbayev also said he was “encouraged and touched” by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that India would share the vaccines with the world.
