They are important

It is officially the wedding season. If you don’t already have a dozen of wedding invites and functions to attend, chances are you might be preparing for your own wedding.

From finalising the wedding invite, the lehenga of your choice to zeroing in on the venue, planning a wedding is no child’s play.

A lot of people believe in checking the compatibility of the stars of the bride and groom to predict the state of their married life.

However, there is one very crucial aspect of a happy and healthy relationship that often gets ignored–the health of the couple.

4 medical tests

So, before you decide to spend the rest of your life with someone, it is important to be aware of your partner’s medical status.

As you gear up for the D-day, get these four medical tests done to be better equipped and prepared for any hurdles that may come your way

1 – Infertility test

An infertility test is designed to let you know the health of ovaries and the sperm count. Since there are no clear symptoms of infertility, it is important to undergo these tests if you are planning to have a baby in the future or even have a normal sex life.

When you know the results beforehand, it helps you in seeking the correct course of treatment, if required.

2 – Blood group compatibility test

It may not seem like a very important test but if you are planning to procreate, it is crucial that you and your partner have the same Rh factor (Rhesus factor).

If your blood groups aren’t compatible with each other, it may create complications during pregnancy.

An Rh incompatibility can be fatal for the second child as it is a condition where the antibodies in a pregnant woman’s blood destroy her baby’s blood cells.

3 – Genetic condition test

Genetic conditions can be easily transferred from one generation to the other. Hence, it is important to get tested for these chronic medical conditions before it gets too late.

Some of the diseases include breast cancer, colon cancer, kidney diseases and diabetes. Timely diagnosis can also help in getting proper treatment for these medical conditions before they turn life-threatening.

4 – STD test

It is a good idea for both the partners to get tested for sexually transmitted diseases. These diseases include HIV/AIDS, gonorrhoea, herpes, syphilis and hepatitis C.

Since some of these medical conditions are life-threatening and can last lifelong, it is a must to get an STD test done.

In case your partner’s test reports turn out to be positive, it can save you from the psychological and psychological trauma that you may face in the future and give you clarity whether you wish to go ahead with the wedding or not.
