Gurgaon: Union health minister Mansukh Mandaviya paid a surprise visit to a health centre in Sikanderpur Badha on the outskirts of the city and reviewed the infrastructure there to deal with C-19 patients.

He met the lone doctor and other staffers at the facility and discussed steps taken to treat people in the vicinity.

It was around 2.30pm when Mandaviya visited the health centre and spent 15 minutes there. He was on his way to the AIIMS centre in Jhajjar.

The Union minister encouraged the officials to carry out tele-consultations. “I am really happy that the health centre is carrying out tele-consultations.

“We should focus more on consultations through this process so that more people have access to doctors,” he said.

Seeing several elderly women practising yoga at the centre, Mandaviya sought to know if this was a regular feature there. The trainer informed him that yoga sessions were held every Monday and Thursday for elderly women from nearby villages.

The minister also inspected the lab, where 14 blood investigations were being carried out, and the medicine store at the facility. Mandaviya was told that the C-19 sample collection centre there catered to around 5,000 people.

“The health centre has one doctor and two staffers. They carry out regular immunisations at the centre and attend to pregnancy-related issues too, “said Virender Yadav, the chief medical officer.

Apart from regular check-ups, the healthcare facility attends to issues related to pregnancy and childbirth and management of communicable diseases.
