Mumbai police made their first arrest in a case in which a bogus iron deficiency injection was given to a man who later died as a result of a reaction.
The VP Road police arrested Pradeep Harshchand Agarwal, a 31-year-old marketing representative of a Delhi-based pharmaceutical company.
The police have added 304 (II) culpable homicides, which do not amount to murder.
The VP Road police had filed an FIR against the following medical stores inside Saifee hospital in January: NRS Pharma, Aditjit Pharma distributors Jain agencies, Dev Pharma, MDK Pharma, Vardhan distributors Siddhivinayak Pharma, Emcee Meditech System, Jai Maa Amba Medicos, Kanha Pharma, and GR Pharma.
“It was discovered during the course of the investigation that the accused was the source of the fake injection; we are investigating how he obtained it and how many more injections he supplied. “Further investigations are on,” said an officer.
