Chandigarh, February 12: As per the directions of Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister Anil Vij, a team of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) raided a medical store in Rewari today and succeeded in seizing medicines being sold at prices higher than the MRP.

According to a spokesman for the FDA Haryana, the Drugs Control Officer, Rewari, Amandeep Chauhan, conducted a decoy operation at Vinayak Medical Store where proprietor Sukhbir Singh sold cough syrup containing codeine phosphate for Rs. 200 and capsule strips containing tramadol hydrochloride for Rs. 100/- without any prescription and without any sale invoice in the absence of a registered pharmacist based on secret information.

He claimed that after the store was raided, Sukhbir was unable to show the retail sale drug license (RSDL) for the sale of these medically intoxicating products, which he had sold for more than the MRP—the MRP for capsule strips was Rs. 57 and Rs. 143 for cough syrup.
The spokesperson reported that 672 Tramadol capsules and 7 codeine phosphate syrups were found during the search.
The shop was sealed and a complaint handed over to Police at PS Kasola Dist. Rewari to lodge FIR under NDPS Act and Essential Commodities Act 1955 read with Para no. 26 of DPCO 2013 against Sukhbir Singh and others.
He claimed that strict action would be taken against drug sellers who violated in this way, and that such operations would continue in the future to ensure that people could not be defrauded in any way, in accordance with the directives of Health Minister Anil Vij.
