Telangana to boost medical device mfg sector

Speaking about the Medical Devices Park, Sultanpur, which is the largest in the country, minister said it has already attracted 25 companies.

Hyderabad: To tap the potential of the multi-billion dollar medical devices industry in the country and give a fillip to local manufacturing, the Telangana government will be setting up common testing facilities in the medical devices park at Sultanpur.

The govt. as well as establishing a med-tech export promotion council in Telangana, state industries and IT minister KT Rama Rao said.

The announcement was made after the minister’s meeting with medical devices manufacturers at BioAsia 2020.

He also assured the industry that Telangana government will be taking up their cause for issues such as regulatory hurdles and inverted tax structure with the relevant ministries of the government of India.

“We will be their advocates in terms of bringing regulatory changes that are in the government of India’s domain,” he said.

Speaking about the Medical Devices Park, Sultanpur, which is the largest in the country, he said it has already attracted 25 companies.

“Within the Medical Devices Park, Sultanpur, we have seen a great deal of success as 25 companies have now signed up.

In July, we expect to inaugurate six manufacturing facilities on the same day,”KTR said.
