In view of total lock down by Central and state governments in the wake of the outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic, the Tripura State Pharmacy Council (TSPC) has decided to adopt innovative way for receiving renewal applications from pharmacists through WhatsApp.
The TSPC authorities have decided to implement ‘Door Step Renewal’ programme facilitating the pharmacists to renew themselves in time by just sending their basic details through WhatsApp by staying at their own places.
According to Dr. Nilimanka Das, president of TSPC, as the Central and state governments have announced complete lock down to contain the spread of highly contagious corona virus, it is becoming difficult for the pharmacists from across the 8 districts to come to Agarthala for renewal of their registrations.
“As the official date for getting the renewals of all registered pharmacists is expected to end on March 31, 2020, it is very difficult for the pharmacists to come to the PCI office all the way to Agarthala for renewing their registrations. As there is strict clamp down on the movement of the public to contain the spread of Corona virus by maintaining social distancing we have decided to accept the renewal applications by the candidates through WhatsApp.
The candidates who wants to renew their applications can send in their basic details like Name, Phone number and registration number through our WhatsApp numbers 8974215254, 7085589952, or through Email: registrartspc@gmail.com, or through message to the above phone numbers, we will intimate about the fee payment to the candidates in the coming days.
However before that we have decided to consider preliminary applications for renewals from the candidates through WhatsApp, so that the candidate need not come to the council office and can send their applications from their own door steps,” informed the TSPC president N Das.

However, with recent reports that the Pharmacy Council of India has extended the date for renewal of registrations for pharmacists by 30th September this year, it has given a lot of relief to the pharmacists. But the TSPC president says that they are yet to receive an official intimation from the Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) in this regard and said that meanwhile the pharmacists can send their basic details by staying at home through WhatsApp or email to renew with the TSPC to avoid inconvenience later.
The TSPC president informed that they have embarked on this under the programme called ‘Renewal at Door Step’. Already they have implemented this programme in 5 districts of Tripura and they are expecting to implement the programme in the remaining 3 districts and ensure all the pharmacists get their registrations on time without having to pay any penalties after the expiry.
