To augment manufacturing capabilities of pharmaceutical industry, the Madhya Pradesh government has stepped up efforts to establish pharmaceutical park in the state.
For this, the state health ministry is scouting for land parcel of minimum 100 acres in Sanwer on Ujjain-Indore highway.
The upcoming park at highway will be boon for MSMEs and local drug industry at large as around 90 per cent of pharma MSMEs are located there.
It will help them grow exponentially. As of now pharma MSMEs are finding Indore financially non-viable to expand base due to skyrocketing real estate prices.

On the other hand, there is hardly any MP based unit functioning in special economy zones in the state, Tulsi Silawat, State Health Minister said.
The pharma MSMEs have long been demanding the government to construct a pharma park in Indore to develop Madhya Pradesh into a hub for pharmaceutical manufacturing.
Madhya Pradesh Small Scale Drug Manufacturers’ Association (MPSSDMA) accounting for annual revenue of Rs.1,500 crore spearheaded the demand for pharma park.
A delegation of Madhya Pradesh Small Scale Drug Manufacturers’ Association (MPSSDMA) had raised pharma park issue with state health minister Tulsi Silawat at ‘Magnificent Madhya Pradesh Investors’ summit in Indore in October 2019.
The health minister assured the delegation that efforts will be taken to construct pharma park.
The health minister had recently ordered officers to search for a plot in Sanwer.
Once developed, the park will have state of the art infrastructure comprising of common effluent treatment plant, a training centre, an exhibition hall etc.
It will provide ample opportunities to draw in lucrative investments in pharma sector and generate job opportunities for skilled and unskilled locals, said Amit Chawla, general secretary of Madhya Pradesh Small Scale Drug Manufacturers’ Association who is also a part of the delegation.
Beside drug makers, the park will have presence of raw material manufacturers, allied industry etc.
A drug unit can avail plot ad measuring 10,000 meters to 1 acre in the park. All new units setting up in the pharma park will be eligible for several incentives including subsidized power, said Chawla.
Indore has around 10 pharmacy colleges. Once built, the park will offer lucrative jobs to pharmacy students.
