The Gujarat Pollution Control Board (GPCB) in collaboration with Gujarat Food and Drug Control Administration (FDCA) organized conference on the theme ‘Growth Opportunities in Pharma Sector in Gujarat’ in Dubai on October 5, 2021.

The seminar aimed at bringing investments and business into Gujarat.

The opportunity in investing in Gujarat was discussed and presentation on active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) Pharma Park in Gujarat was also showcased.

Viranchi Shah, senior vice president, Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) made presentation on opportunities in Gujarat, while Gujarat FDCA Commissioner Dr H G Koshia presented summary and thanked the participants.

“It was an excellent and grand success  event to tap middle East Market for pharmaceutical business of India and particularly Gujarat,” stated Dr H G Koshia.

Sanjeev Kumar, chairman GPCB, A V Shah, member Secretary GPCB, Anil Jain, CEO,API business, Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd and Mona Gogia, VP, regulatory affairs, Cadila Pharmaceuticals Ltd also attended the event.

The representatives of more than 20 UAE based pharma companies and more than 40 Gujarat based pharmaceutical companies were also present.

Gujarat is India’s leading state in pharmaceutical industry, with a 33% share in drug manufacturing and 28% share in drug exports. Ahmedabad and Vadodara are considered as pharmaceutical hubs as there are many big and small pharma companies established in these cities.

Gujarat FDCA makes optimum use of information technology for achieving excellence in performance. FDCA, Gujarat is the first State to initiate online software for sales and manufacturing licenses. Gujarat FDCA has become the first state drug regulator in India to start issuance of CoPP online.
