Haryana’s Food and Drug Administration Department (FDA) busted a spurious medicine factory in Barwala, Panchkula, and this factory used to supply spurious medicines from Bawana, Delhi also.

It is suspected that this is a big racket of counterfeit medicines at the national level.

An FDA spokesperson said that the officials of the department got information that someone was making and selling counterfeit products at a factory in the village of Chandpur, District Una, Himachal Pradesh.

Based on this information, a team was constituted under the leadership of Haryana FDA’s Assistant State Drug Controller, Ripan Mehta, which included Senior Drug Control Officer, Ambala Sunil Dahiya, and Drug Control Officer, Panchkula Praveen Kumar.

He said that on the basis of the information, Cubic Light Science Pvt. Ltd. is located in Industrial Area, Plot No. 102, Alipore, Barwala, Panchkula.

During the search, the team found 320×100 tablets, branded as K2AII and found to contain active ingredients namely Calcium Citrate, Vitamin K-27, Zinc, and Magnesium.

The price of this seized medicine has been estimated at Rs 5,69,940. The spokesperson said that the name of the manufacturer of this medicine is Relieve Pharmaceuticals, Khasra No. 2023/1, Village Chandpur, District Una, Himachal Pradesh.

The consignment of Relieve Pharma’s counterfeit goods is said to have come from Bawana, Delhi and the address of the seller has been given as C-137, Sector-1, DSIDC, Bawana, Delhi-110039 and its bill has also been received by the team.

He said that Sukesh Chandra, Partner, Relieve Pharma, Chandpur, Una, Himachal Pradesh, informed the FDA team that it does not have any factory or office in Bawana, Delhi.

The FDA team has withdrawn the sample of the above medicine from the spot for testing and analysis and has seized the rest of the medicines and taken it into its possession for further legal action.

The spokesperson said that the entire matter has been informed to the FDA Delhi so that the entire racket can be busted.

The punishment for the offense of manufacturing and selling spurious medicine is seven years imprisonment and a fine of three times the value of the seized drug.

It is worth mentioning that in the last few days, it is the 5th factory to make fake cosmetics and medicines caught by FDA Haryana.
