Spurious drugs seized
The Office of the Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh, along with a team of drug inspectors, conducted a raid in Mainpuri and Etah on 17th March 2023.
The team formed by the Headquarters, which included:
- Drug Inspector, Ashutosh Mishra, Ghaziabad,
- Drug Inspector, Vaibhav Babbar, Gautam Buddha Nagar
- Drug Inspector, Rajat Kumar Etawa
The raid was carried out based on a complaint received regarding the distribution of spurious drugs / medicines in the area.
The team caught a person named Abhishek Kumar Shakya red-handed with a fake and spurious Decadurabolin injection of Zydus.

Recovery of Spurious drugs
During the raid, the team discovered a large quantity of spurious drugs / medicines stored at Abhishek Kumar Shakya’s location. Upon enquiry, it was found that Anuj Jain, police station police station, rural Etah, had stored the spurious drugs in Abhishek’s house.
The team seized the spurious drugs, including:
- Decadurabolin Injection 50mg (Zydus Health Care),
- Pantop DSR (Aristo Pharma),
- Monocef O (Alkem Laboratories),
- Zifi Tablets (FDC Ltd.),
- Clavam 625 (Alkem Laboratories),
- Diclofenac injection, Oxytocin.
Ten samples were collected for testing and analysis, and the rest of the drugs / medicines were seized in Form 16 under the Drug Act.
The estimated value of seized drugs / medicines is more than ₹500,000.
Legal Action Taken
An FIR has been registered against Abhishek Kumar Shakya and Anuj Jain under sections 274, 275, and 276 of the IPC at Kurawali Mainpuri police station for selling spurious drugs / medicines.
Further legal action will be taken based on the test report of the collected samples and as per the rules.
Summary
The raid conducted by the Office of the Commissioner, Food Safety and Drug Administration, Uttar Pradesh, and the team of drug inspectors uncovered a large quantity of spurious drugs / medicines being sold in the area.
The seizure of these drugs / medicines will prevent their sale and protect public health.
The legal action taken against the individuals involved will serve as a warning to those who participate in the illegal trade of fake and spurious drugs / medicines.
