The policy launch was accompanied by the introduction of the Export Promotion Council for Medical Devices and the Scheme for Assistance to Medical Devices Clusters for Common Facilities (AMD-CF).
Furthermore, the minister released six comprehensive reports on pharmaceuticals and medical devices, showcasing the government’s commitment to the industry’s growth.
Strengthening India’s Pharmaceutical Industry through Innovations and Quality Standards
Minister Mandaviya emphasized the significance of maintaining high-quality standards and innovation in India’s pharmaceutical sector.
He firmly stated that compromising the quality of medical products would harm the nation’s progress, competitiveness, and reputation, expressing his zero-tolerance approach towards such practices.
Collaborative Efforts to Elevate India’s Position in the Global Pharma Race
Acknowledging India’s reputation as the “Pharmacy of the World,” Minister Mandaviya highlighted the increased responsibilities faced by the nation.
Kallam Satish Reddy, Chairman of Dr Reddy’s Laboratories, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the criticality of setting ambitious goals for India’s pharmaceutical and medical devices industry.
Reddy stressed that innovation at all levels, coupled with the government’s support, could propel India’s industry from its current $42 billion status to the target of $65 billion by 2024.
International Conference on India Pharma and India Medical Devices: Promoting Manufacturing and Innovation Excellence
The annual International Conference on India Pharma and India Medical Devices, co-hosted by the Department of Pharmaceuticals and the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI), celebrated its 8th edition.
This two-day event focused on establishing India as a cost-effective hub for high-quality manufacturing and innovation in the pharmaceutical and medical device industry.
The first day of the conference centered around medical devices, while the second day, May 27, highlighted pharmaceuticals.

The event witnessed the presence of esteemed dignitaries, senior government officials, and industry representatives.
Notable following attendees were present during the first day of the conference:

Future Engagement and Growth Prospects
Following the inaugural event, Minister Mandaviya participated in a CEO roundtable discussion.
Notably, he had recently engaged in bilateral meetings with member countries at the 76th World Health Assembly in Geneva, Switzerland, showcasing India’s active role in global healthcare discussions.
