Pharma Unit
A fire breakout happenned at Samarth Life Sciences, a pharma unit in Manakpur in the in dustrial area of Baddi. This is a very serious concerns about the safety of the workplace like pharma, cosmetics and medical device industry.
According to a police complaint filed by Production officer of the pharma unit Avinash Jha has filed a police complaint about the fire breakout indicates that the unit has failed to provide required and adequate safety equipment.
Jha, a employee with three years of service at the said pharma unit said, “Proper safety measures could have prevented the said incident happened in the unit”
He further stated, “The management of the pharma unit is full responsible for this incident. Had required and adequate safety measurements been in place, the unit could have mitigated the damage due to the fire incident.”
Loss in the unit and Police Action
Thankfully there is no lives were lost in this fire incident.
The fire damaged the building structure, important records, documents, machinery, equipment, raw materials and finished products in the pharma unit.
The production officer estimated the high loss in the unit which may run into crores of rupees.
The Additional SP Baddi, Ashok Verma has confirmed that the said pharma unit Samarth Life Sciences has been booked under Section 287 of the BNS Act on the basis of the complaint lodged by Jha, for negligent conduct with respect to fire breakout in the unit.
Details of the incident
Jha has mentioned the incident in detail.
He was in the injection unit, during his night shift between 5 PM on January 10th and concluded at 5 AM on January 11th.
At 3:40 AM, colleagues Gurmail and Rajnish alerted him about the presence of smoke in the depyrogenation tunnel.
During investigation, Jha came to know that huge amount of smoke is coming out from the area.
All the workers were forced to evacuate the building immediately through the main gate.
The emergency alarm was activated quickly to ensure the safe and early evacuation of all employees.
The plant head was immediately reported bout te sudden fire breakout and asked to contact the Fire Department and other local law enforcement agencies.
Huge Damage and Investigation
The fire was brought under control after 24 hours. Over eight fire tenders and a team of 24 firefighters tirelessly battled with this to control the fire.
