Chemists and Pharmacists are our Corona Warriors
State Drugs Controller Haryana, Food and Drugs Administration, (FDA) Haryana Narender Ahooja popularly known as Vivek for his literary work and unique working style started conducting Webinars on IEC Activities on Drugs Act and awareness programme for Chemist Associations of all the districts of Haryana.
First webinar for District Jhajjar
First webinar was organised on Thursday 11th June 2020 for Jhajjar District Chemists and among panelists Rakesh Dahiya, Senior Drugs Control Officer, (SDCO) Rohtak Zone and Sandeep Hooda, Drugs Control Officer, (DCO) Jhajjar along with members chemists of Jhajjar District.
Rakesh Dahiya, SDCO moderated the webinar and after his welcome note Narender Ahooja in his key note address termed “Chemists and Pharmacists are our Corona Warriors” who risked their life in Door step delivery of life saving drugs to all needy patients during lockdown period.
Ahooja stated “In this process officers of FDA Haryana also provided full logistic support to the district administrations and by making curfew or lockdown passes for these Corona Warriors. In the early stages when Masks and Sanitizers were in short supply in country and rates were soaring high but Chemists Association on persuasion of FDA Haryana officers made availability of Masks and Sanitizers at reasonable rates.”
“After some time when Indigenous production of All types of Masks and Sanitizers increased and demand and Supply balanced then Central Govt issued notifications fixing the ceiling prices of Two ply masks at Rs 8.00, Three ply masks at Rs 10.00, Melt Blown masks at Rs 16.00 per mask and Govt also issued standards for these. But now after increase in production Chemists are selling these masks even at lesser rates then fixed by Govt of India” Ahooja added.
“Same is story of success in case Sanitizers Initially Sanitizer were also not available in market. At that time on advice of Ministry of Agriculture Joint Secretary Sugar, FDA Haryana took a decision to allow Distilleries to manufacture Sanitizers which filled the gap between demand and supply. FDA Haryana cutting Red Tapes working hard in lockdown period issued licenses to 18 such Distilleries” Ahooja said.
“In the mean time Govt of India under E C Act fixed ceiling prices of Sanitizer but presently Sanitizers available even on lesser rates then fixed by Govt of India. Similarly after becoming self sufficient Atam Nirbhar in Masks Sanitizers Haryana became self sufficient in PPEs” Ahooja said.
Chemist Association’s pledge
Ahooja urged the Chemist Associations to take a pledge to follow the Rules of Social Distancing, wearing Masks and Hand Hygiene by washing hands properly or using hand sanitizer. He also urged them to take pledge for selling Masks Sanitizers etc on fixed rates only.
In last Sandeep Hooda, DCO Jhajjar presented vote of thanks to all the panelists and office bearers of Chemist Association. He also assured to make compliance of directions issued by Department.
Webinar for district Palwal
Similar webinar organised by FDA Haryana on Friday 12th June 2020 for Palwal Chemist Association in which Narender Ahooja SDC Haryana was key note speaker and Lalit Kr. Goel, Assii. State Drugs Controller, FDA Haryan, Karan Godara SDCO and Krishan Garg DCO were panelists and Vinod Jindal President Chemist Association was moderator. FDA Haryana is also planning to continue to organize such webinars for other Districts in Haryana.
