India’s first Biopharma Hub

According to a recent announcement by IT & Industries Minister KT Rama Rao, the state government of Telangana intends to establish India’s first Biopharma Hub (B-Hub), a growth center and biopharma scale-up manufacturing facility.

Hyderabad, which has been the country’s leading biological production centre, is home to several key players such as:

Investing in Cell and Gene Therapy

The state government of Telangana is also investing in the cell and gene therapy space, aiming to establish an institute of curative medicine in Hyderabad.

The primary objective of this institute will be to provide affordable development and commercialization of new age curative therapies, particularly cell and gene therapy, for diseases prevalent in India.

This initiative will significantly contribute to the development of the biopharmaceutical industry in the country.

Telangana’s Growing Pharma Industry

Telangana contributes to around 40% of India’s pharma production and is home to more than 1,000 life sciences companies.

With greater development expected in the future, Telangana is the only region in the world to have more than 200 USFDA-approved sites for pharmaceutical manufacturing.

The state government is taking measures to make Telangana a hub for biopharmaceutical manufacturing, which will not only generate employment but also contribute to the overall economic growth of the state and the country.

Conclusion

The development of the Indian biopharmaceutical industry will be significantly aided by Telangana’s plans to create the nation’s first biopharma hub and its investment in cell and gene therapy.

With Hyderabad being a leading biological production centre in the country and Telangana’s contribution to 40% of India’s pharma production, the state is well-positioned to become a hub for biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

This will not only boost the economic growth of the state but also create employment opportunities for its citizens.
