KOCHI: The high court on Thursday called for strict action against persons attacking doctors and other health workers.

A division bench led by Justice Devan Ramachandran said the tendency to attack doctors and health workers after getting drunk or otherwise should be curbed.

The court pointed out that we are passing through a time when C-19 can be dealt with only the help of doctors and health workers.

The court was considering the case on fixing rates for C-19 treatment at private hospitals.

During the hearing, Indian Medical Association (IMA) contended that sufficient action is not being taken regarding such incidents. Even though there are provisions to register cases for non-bailable offences, it is not done, IMA alleged.
