Chandigarh: Haryana Health and Family Welfare Minister, Anil Vij, who also holds the charge of Food and Drug Administration Department (FDA) Haryana, said that a raid was conducted at Karnal by a joint team of FDA Haryana and Police and the medicines were confiscated under various violations and an FIR was also registered under the NDPS Act.

He said that last May 19, 2022, an FIR was registered under the NDPS Act on Daljit son of Kashmir for illegally selling Buprenorphine tablets. During interrogation, Daljit said that he was taking these pills from Dharma Hospital, Dhanwant Building, Old GT Road, Karnal.

In this context, a team was formed in which a bogus customer was prepared by Ritu Mehta, Drug Controller Officer, Karnal, FDA Haryana and SI Ram Meher and sent 4 notes of 500 – 500 rupees.
The bogus customer was sent to Dharma Hospital and where tablets Adnok-N 2/ 0.5 mg (buprenorphine) were illegally sold to Vikas son of Tejpal on Rs 1900 without a doctor’s prescription without any medical examination. When the team reached the spot, no doctor was found present there.

On inquiry by Vikas, it was told that the patients are treated here by Dr. Abhishek. Dr. Abhishek was informed on the phone and called to the spot, on which he said that Dharma Hospital is a registered de-addiction center and he himself is MD Psychiatric.
It has also been revealed in the investigation that the name of Dr. Neeraj Jain is registered in the de-addiction center and not that of Abhishek.
On this, Dr. Naman Gupta Psychiatric, Civil Hospital, Karnal joined the team and Dr. Abhishek was interrogated and the sale and purchase records of the center were also checked in which it was found that whitener was applied at various places in the files of the patients.
It was also found that 50 tablets which were sold to bogus customer were entered by the staff in the file of the patient named Gaurav at the same time and the signature of the person named Gaurav in the register was done by the staff themselves.
He said that during the examination of the files of various patients, it was found that the patients themselves are given medicines by the staff in the absence of the doctor without examination, due to which the drug business is flourishing under the guise of a de-addiction centre.
Inspection report was prepared by Dr. Naman Gupta and 7 types of medicines were taken for examination by Drug Control Officer. Similarly, a case has been registered by the police under the NDPS Act.
Anil Vij said that the youth of Haryana would not be allowed to fall into the trap of drugs at all and those involved in such illegal and wrongful acts would not be spared.
He has warned the people involved in the drug peddling that either they should leave all these illegal acts of drugs or else leave Haryana.
