Illegal drugs seizure
Agra: A continuous crackdown on the drug mafia is underway in Agra, Uttar Pradesh.
Recently, a significant breakthrough was made when illegal warehouses owned by the notorious drug dealer, in Bichpuri, were raided, resulting in the seizure of drugs worth a staggering 54 Lakh rupees.
The joint operation conducted by the police and the Drug Department spanned over 26 hours and exposed illicit black market activities.
Samples of Drugs Sent for Lab Testing
The seized drugs, manufactured under the names of well-known companies, included cough syrups and various other drugs.
To ensure the authenticity of the drugs, samples from 14 different items were sent to the laboratory for thorough testing.
Atul Upadhyay, Assistant Commissioner of Drug Department, Uttar Pradesh (UP), revealed that the raid on warehouses took place on Friday evening around 8 PM and continued until Saturday afternoon at 2 PM.
During the investigation, it came to light that the warehouses were stocked with counterfeit products branded under reputable names like Codeine Syrup and Alprazolam tablets.
The raid resulted in the discovery of 6 different types of Codeine syrups and 8 types of drugs, along with cartons and wrappers bearing the names of other renowned companies.
Additionally, it was found that both warehouses operated without proper licenses, indicating the illegal nature of their operations.
Seizure Details
The total value of the seized drugs reached a staggering 54 million rupees, and authorities discovered that the drugs were being packaged and sealed in 70 barrels.
The authorities have taken immediate action by sending the collected samples for laboratory analysis and have issued notices to the relevant companies involved in the counterfeiting scheme.
An investigation has been launched under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act (NDPS), with cases registered at the Jagdishpura Police Station.
Massive Seizure of Drugs and Machinery
The raids led to the revelation of two illegal factories and two warehouses linked to the dealer. While one factory and two warehouses were located in Bichpuri, another factory was discovered in Jagdishpura.
All four facilities were involved in the illegal manufacturing and storage of drugs.
The total haul from the raids includes 5.54 crore rupees worth of drugs and an estimated one crore rupees worth of machinery.
This successful operation represents a significant blow to the drug mafia’s operations in Agra and sends a strong message against illegal drug trafficking and counterfeiting activities.
The authorities are continuing their efforts to eradicate such activities, ensuring the safety and well-being of the public.
