As per the new proposed bill, owners or occupiers of properties—including houses, rooms, vehicles, or even animals—who permit their use for the commission of these drug offenses by others could face imprisonment ranging from five to ten years.

Furthermore, the new bill targets the financial backbone of the drug trade.

Anyone found directly or indirectly involved in financing illicit drug traffic or harboring drug offenders will face severe consequences, including rigorous imprisonment for a minimum of ten years, extendable up to fourteen years, with a fine of up to Rs 5 lakh.
