The National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL) has issued notice to all the accredited labs across the country to make fresh registrations in the new NABL portal, failing which the login credentials of the laboratories will be cancelled or blocked.
As of today, there are 8064 accredited laboratories in India, which ensures that the labs meet quality parameters and standards.
Besides this, accreditation of labs ensures facilitation of accurate and rapid diagnostics, efficiency of treatment, and a reduction of errors in the laboratory process.
“As technology change accelerates exponentially and new digital platforms are emerging, NABL aims to provide a complete solution to its stakeholders through the online portal.”
“This portal will serve as a way for stakeholders to gain secure web access to systems that allows them to provide a one-stop window for the entire accreditation process like submission of online application and making all the assessment charges among others,” informed N Venkateswaran, CEO, NABL.
NABL under the Quality Council of India (QCI), is mandated to implement an accreditation system for testing, calibration, medical, and other laboratories based on national and international standards.
Therefore, it is important for all laboratories to obtain NABL accreditation.
“Laboratories which have been registered on the portal but not filled in the details other than basic details or having multiple registrations with same details or not active for a long time, the login credentials of such types of laboratories will stand cancelled/ blocked,” the NABL notice stated.
“Laboratory has to register afresh. Now, testing and calibration laboratories can apply only as per ISO/IEC 17025: 2017. No hard copy of applications will be accepted,” the notice further stated.
NABL, a constituent board of the Quality Council of India (QCI), has been established with the objective of providing the government, industry associations, and industry in general with a scheme of conformity assessment bodies (CABs) accreditation that involves third-party assessment of the technical competence of testing, including medical and calibration laboratories, proficiency testing providers, and reference material producers.
NABL is a full member (MRA signatory) to International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation (ILAC) as well as Asia Pacific Accreditation Cooperation (APAC) since 2000 on the basis of peer evaluation by APAC as per ISO/IEC 17011:2017.
