Clarity in Commerce: Net Quantity, Retail Sale Price, and Consumer Care Details
Ensuring transparency in trade and consumer protection is a shared responsibility, and the declaration of net quantity, retail sale price, and consumer care details plays a crucial role in fostering trust and accountability.
The guidelines for these declarations are in accordance with the Legal Metrology Act, 2009 (1 of 2010) and the Rules made thereunder.
1. Net Quantity Declaration
(a) Manner of Declaration:
- The net quantity of the product, i.e., the amount of the product within the packaging, must be declared on the label (Food labelling).
- This declaration adheres to the stipulations outlined in the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.
2. Retail Sale Price Declaration
(b) Manner of Declaration:
- The retail sale price, reflecting the cost at which the product is offered to consumers, should be declared on the label.
- This declaration follows the specifications laid out in the Legal Metrology Act, 2009, and the accompanying Rules.
3. Consumer Care Details Declaration
(c) Manner of Declaration:
- Information pertaining to consumer care details, which typically includes contact information for addressing consumer queries or concerns, must be provided on the label.
- The manner of this declaration is aligned with the regulations specified in the Legal Metrology Act, 2009.
