The Food and Drugs Administration Maharashtra (FDA Maharashtra) recently conducted a surprise raid at Sheetal Medicare Products Pvt. Ltd. in Dhakivali village, district Palghar, Maharashtra.
The said raid by FDA Maharashtra was carried out on January 8th and recovered a huge volume of ayurvedic medicines worth Rs. 3,09,023.
These ayurvedic medicines were found to violate the Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act, 1954 (DMRO Act).
Violations and the seizure
The FDA Maharashtra investigated the matter, and it is revealed that Sheetal Medicare Products had manufactured the medicines and labeled them with misleading and unsubstantiated claims.
These above-mentioned claims are prohibited under Section 3(d) of the DMRO Act, and the medicines were designed to attract consumers into believing the products could cure diseases.
The FDA Maharashtra withdrawn the samples of these medicines for testing and analysis purposes to ensure the safety and quality of the seized drugs.
These samples will be tested for their claim, composition, potency, and other mandatory standards.
Legal action:
The FDA Maharashtra will proceed further with the legal action against Sheetal Medicare Products after receiving the test reports from the testing laboratory.
The Drugs and Magic Remedies (Objectionable Advertisement) Act, 1954, has strict penalties for those companies that are involved in such types of activities.

This FDA Maharashtra’s action has given a storing and clear message to all Ayurvedic manufacturers and marketers.
It is not only inethical but also illegal to mislead consumers with false claims about the products.
