Alprazolam and Zolpidem
In a major development in the fight against drugs and contraband, the Anti Narcotics Task Force (ANTF) of Delhi Police has busted illegal godowns having stock of Alprazolam and Zolpidem tablets in the Southwest District.
Clearly, the sustained actions from police and regulatory bodies fighting illegal drug supply in NCR seem to be effective.
A huge recovery of drug items that fall under NDPS, i.e., Alprazolam and Zolpidem tablets, has been made from the Mehram Nagar godown, and one suspect has been arrested.
The Bust of the Godown
This is based on some credible intelligence that suggested that international cargo courier services are being used for the supply of controlled drugs.
Two godown sites in Janakpuri and Mehram Nagar were booked for allegedly stocking these controlled drugs.
Police kept a trap where the identified godown was located.
As a result, Sanjay Kumar Pandey was arrested. A 38-year-old man in good health, his arrest will determine how many people he is connected to and why he was initially transporting such drugs.
Police recovered the following
- 83,090 banned pharmaceutical drugs: 1MG each of Alprazolam and Zolpidem
- 17,052 packets of foreign cigarettes: Foreign cigarettes imported to India without government clearance.
Their misuse can lead to adverse effects on human health.
When questioned, Sanjay Kumar Pandey has denied any licensure or medical prescriptions provided by authorities that entitled him to sell, store, import, export, or store such items anywhere in Delhi and NCR.
The Impact of Busted Godown
The bust will impact an interim supply circuit in Delhi linked to foreign countries but with local involvement since Sanjay Kumar boasts no links.
This bust will possibly start breaking the interim circuit the ANTF has been investigating in the capital.
Such recoveries at random locations disrupt the internal supply chain and are positive recovery developments mainly, which let the miscreants know that anti-drug forces are on duty out there 24/7.
