Telangana’s Drugs Control Administration (DCA), in joint operation with the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO), Hyderabad Zone, has unearthed an unlicensed veterinary drug manufacturing factory.
The raid was conducted at Siflon Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd., Unit-I, in ALEAP Industrial Estate, Gajularamaram, Medchal-Malkajgiri District, to maintain animal safety.
On 28 May 2025, a stock of veterinary drugs worth Rs 3 lakhs was seized when the company was found manufacturing these drugs abnormally without obtaining any drug manufacturing licensing.
The Cause for Investigation
The investigation was prompted by a tip-off.
Officers from DCA Telangana and CDSCO Hyderabad Zone visited the site and created a unique team and made a mix-up of facts before taking action.
The purpose of the raid was to determine the legality of suspicion of unlicensed veterinary drug manufacture.
Upon access to Siflon Drugs and Pharmaceuticals Ltd., manufacturers were established, and a plethora of veterinary formulations which did not have approval from the requisite authority were discovered.
The two formulations in question being manufactured ultra vires include:
- Albendazole Tablets 250mg (Bolus) Veterinary
- Albendazole Granules (Veterinary).
Since the quantity produced was not relative to safe animal use, 537 kilograms of Albendazole Tablets 250mg (Bolus) Veterinary and 986 kilograms of Albendazole Granules (Veterinary) were confiscated during the raid.
Valued at Rs 3 lakhs on the streets, samples have been dispatched for chemical analysis to test quality and standards.

Legal Ramifications:
Manufacturing any drugs without valid licensing is a cognizable offence under the Drugs and Cosmetics Act
The penalty includes imprisonment for up to 5 years.
