A Biotechnology research scientist is another profession where knowledge of pharmacy or biotechnology is employed. A bioscientist must possess skills associated with bioinformatics and clinical research. This profession is in high demand across the planet. The skills can be acquired by course in M. Pharmacy in biotechnology.
After post graduation in regulatory affairs, one can work with regulation of various pharmaceutical products of a company. This profile deals with checking protocol for drug approval, marketing, clinical testing and other aspects and its regulation in various nations.
If a drug is meant to be marketed in different countries, it has to follow norms of individual nation. In India, the regulatory authority is Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO).
Research & Development
Research & Development; is another profession. India remains in its infancy if we mention research. But the policies of Make in India and Self startup has brought various career options where one can earn handsome counting on one’s intellect and other associated factors.
The US maintains the highest share of R&D expenditure and the UK is at second place to it. The big pharma companies like Pfizer, Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, GSK offers top package in their research laboratories situated in the US and European countries and offers top package there.
Nevertheless, their allied plants and marketing of their research products within the Indian subcontinent which offers an honest range of career choices within the pharmaceutical Industry.
Academics
Academics is another option which can be opted after post graduation. However, now, doctorate has become mandate condition for teaching in a pharma institute.
The starting level designation is termed as Associate Professor as per University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines. With due experience, the profile is more focused on research work in an Institute.
Synthesis of drugs
Medicinal Chemistry is a branch of chemistry where one can make a career. This profile deals with synthesis of drugs. Now a days, computational biology is done before synthetic work is carried out.
This involves molecular docking using sophisticated software. This technique has enabled to select few molecules to be synthesized out of library of hundreds.
Medical writing
Medical writing involves writing scientific documents of varied types. It Involves documents related to disease, clinical trials, research or regulatory, educational or promotional literature.
The knowledge and understanding of medical terms is a requisite to enter into this field. Its scope has rose in past few years and offers a lucrative package.
