Telangana DCA

In a significant development, the Telangana Drug Control Administration (Telangana DCA) has exposed a fraudulent scheme by Jodas Expoim Pvt. Ltd., a pharmaceutical manufacturing company specializing in specialty medicines.

The company was found to be exporting antibiotics to Russia under false labels, falsely claiming them as their own products.

Illegal Operations Exposed

The drug control authorities conducted a raid on November 26th at Jodas Expoim’s manufacturing facility in Karakapatla, Siddipet District.

During the raid, they seized a substantial quantity of antibiotics intended for export to Russia.

Shockingly, these antibiotics were not manufactured by Jodas Expoim but by other pharmaceutical companies.

Unauthorized Manufacturing and Labeling

Investigations revealed that Jodas Expoim had not obtained the necessary drug license from the drug regulatory department to manufacture these specific antibiotics.

The company was found to be using the name of an Indore-based pharmaceutical company, with whom they had a loan license, to falsely label the exported antibiotics.

Seizure of Illicit Stock

The authorities seized antibiotics worth a staggering Rs. 1.33 crore during the raid.

This included a large quantity of ampicillin+sulbactam injections, falsely labeled as products of Jodas Expoim and Alpa Laboratories Ltd. However, these were actually manufactured by Indian Genomix Pvt. Ltd.

Additionally, other antibiotics like amoxicillin, ampicillin+sulbactam, and meropenem, exported to Russia in October and November 2024, were also found to be manufactured by other companies but exported under the Jodas Expoim label.

Legal Action Initiated

The Telangana DCA has registered a case against Jodas Expoim under Sections 18(c) and 17(B)(c) of the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940.

The company faces severe legal consequences for its fraudulent activities, which pose a serious threat to public health and international drug regulations.

Key Takeaways:

  • Jodas Expoim illegally exported antibiotics to Russia under false labels.
  • The company did not have the required drug license for manufacturing these antibiotics.
  • Authorities seized a significant quantity of illicit drugs worth Rs. 1.33 crore.
  • The company faces legal action for violating drug regulations.

This incident underscores the importance of stringent drug regulations and the need for vigilant monitoring to prevent such illegal activities that jeopardize public health and international drug trade.
